They say a picture paints a thousand words.  Well this picture of me resplendent in plaster and paint mess shows I am definitely a hands on person who’s prepared to get her hands very dirty.  I look back and can tell you that renovating is incredibly hard work but the rewards can be amazing.

One of my finest hours.
One of my finest hours.

The location of renovation No.6 was Rye on the Mornington Peninsula.  This project was a labour of love, passion, sweat and sometimes even tears, as my family took on transforming an old weekender into a resplendent rejuvenated holiday house.

Mind you most people couldn’t see the potential of this house.  Yes it needed a tonne of work but the position was excellent, the bones were good and with the right planning and organisation we knew we could realistically transform this house.

The house was re-everything…re-roofed, re-wired, re-plumbed, re-windowed…I think you get my drift.  I employed every skill I had acquired over the years and then some.  We also had to pay for some help of course.  As with any project, really good communication with trades and clear ideas was paramount to ensure we stayed on budget and on time.

See the Gallery for more pictures.  This top to bottom renovation tested us all, but the results were well worth it and my family is very proud of its’ work and all the effort.

We hope you think so too.
